ANALYSIS: Snow Crab Quotas Increase Out of AK; Current Crab Market Remains Firm

With the announcement out of Alaska for both Bering Sea Snow Crab and Bristol Bay Red king crab quotas; both fisheries have seen quota advancements of 34 million pounds and 4.3 million pounds, respectively.

Bering Sea Snow crab is seeing a 24 percent increase for the 2019/2020 season over the 2018/2019; this will be a surplus of about 6.5 million pounds of crab. The season is set to open October 15, but it should be noted, that fishing usually does not take place right away...
