ANALYSIS: July Imports Boast New Tilapia Record

Imports of frozen tilapia fillets increased in July with volumes jumping 32.8 percent from the previous month. Compared to the same month a year ago, volumes have increased 53.4 percent. Import volume for July totaled 34.1 million pounds, the highest July on record, while also the highest month on record since December 2018 when product was being rushed into the U.S. prior to the original start date of the 25% tariff on the market, which was ultimately postponed until May 2019. On a YTD basis...
